My favorite season
As we reach the beginning of September, I can already feel the slight drop in temperature and smell the freshness in the air. Autumn is coming and there’s a big smile on my face! I love Autumn! Although Spring is a beautiful season, which I’m always grateful comes, I can usually still feel the grips of Winter and it taints the season a little for me. This is why Autumn is my favorite season, I can still feel the energy boost from summer as well as appreciate the beauty of Autumn. I feel this even more in Japan as Autumn is much warmer here than in the UK. Whereas my friends and family back home are starting to put the heating on, here I’m starting to use the air-conditioning less and less. I can enjoy walks in nature and view the changing colors of the leaves without having to wear heavy coats, thick socks and clunky boots! What a fantastic time of year, I hope you enjoy it as much as me.

Greetings
“Hello” and “How are you?” are formal greetings that almost all is familiar with, however English speakers don’t always use them especially with people they already know. Here are some common conversational greetings speakers tend to use in informal casual settings.
A: Hey. How’s it going? B: It’s going well. And you? |
A: Hi. How are you doing? B: I’m doing good. How about you? |
A: Hey. How are things? B: Things are well, thanks. And you? |
A: Hi. What’s up? (or What’s going on?) B: Not much. How about you? |
Give it a go!
What kind of coffee do you drink?
When I was younger the choice of coffee was much more simple, with milk and sugar or without! My own preference, for a long time being without. Although at Christmas time I would indulge my coffee after Christmas dinner by having it with cream. Nowadays there is much more variety commonly available, not only where the coffee beans originate and the blends of beans, but also with the different types of syrups used to flavor them.
Even though I prefer a more bitter filter coffee, I have found that I find some of the flavored syrups more palatable than sugar. The nut flavors and spice flavors and my favorite, particularly cinnamon, ginger or hazelnut. I think that I prefer these flavors, not only because of the taste, but because these flavors often remind me of my Nan (Grandmother). I spent a lot of time at her house when I was growing up and when I drink these flavors I feel comforted to remember these special times in my life.
